Hello everyone,
I am just trying to get the word out there about what's going on over here in NJ and what we are trying to do. We have started the NJ Deer Farmer Association. Currently Deer Farming is under Fish and Wildlife here in NJ. As you all probably know that is not a good place to be. F&W is not interested in seeing Deer Farming grow in NJ. They are not issuing new permits, cooperating with existing deer farms or helping in anyway!
We were lucky enough to have a meeting put together by a Senator that we had alot of support attend. We were lucky enough to have Glen Dice attend with Shawn Shaefer on a conference phone. We also had Farm Bureau there, several members of NJDFA, the lobbyist, a legislative aid for an Asslemblyman, The Director of F&W, the Assistant Director and the Senator . Needless to say, they made it very clear that they are against Deer Farming and they also don't want us to go to Agriculture. So we have to take the steps necessary to get us over to Ag.
We are currently working on trying to get Deer Farming in NJ to be put under Agriculture. We have a Lobbyist from a very reputable firm who says he can get the job done. As we all know, Lobbyist don't work for nothing so that's where we need everyone's help.
I spoke to Todd Morgan from Whitetail Exchange about holding a Benefit Auction for The New Jersey Deer Farmer Association. He said he would hold the auction and help us in anyway he could. He suggested to put this post up and get the word out there about what we are trying to do.
We already have some possitive feed back with donations of Semen Straws.
I guess after we think word is out there well enough we will annouce the date of the Benefit auction.
I hope we can count on all you deer farmers out there to help NJ farmers get off the ground! We hope to join the rest of you in this great industry for animals we all share a common passion for...
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Hope to hear from all of you!!
You may e-mail the president of NJDFA "Tim Marks" with any questions or donations. Remember he is a Deer Farmer too.
