Bruce, Thanks for the article, I will print this out for a good read.

I will be putting my Backup Buck in with my does Sunday I guess we will see how good we did with AI this year. Thanks for the straw of Reinforced

There were twin sisters both are Johnny P111 Sheena and Shawna. Sheena is Thunderstorm and Screamjng Eagles Dam. Shawna is Blazer and Hurricane's Dam.

If antler shape is important to your breeding program stick with Hurricane, Blazer, Silverhawk,Thunderstorm, JB, Pepsi, and Silverstorm. If antler shape is not important to your program breed Souring Eagle, Tomahawk, Silver King, Blitzen, Dreamer, P-110,P-112 these all consistently produce multiple brows and higher scoring offspring with more irregular shaped antlers. 80% of my old doe are from the first group listed.

Thank you Bruce for the Article it was great reading it and it helped a lot.

Thank you Bell that is a lot of great info Just exactly what I was hunting for.

Why if Pat 111 and 112 were good proven producers were they bred to a buck named Johnny 204 @ 6 and i have seen nothing about this buck what he has produced, his breeding or anything? That seems odd in breeding sense. It worked but why would you breed those does that way? Eldon

Bruce.. Where did that article come from? Great info!

Charlie,

As near as i can tell Randy Barks wrote this article for his "Deer Tracking Magazine" i haven't been able to find the exact issue or how old it is. I stumbled across this article a few months ago too

Eldon

There were very few choices to breed with in the era when Johnny was used to breed. Semen was not sold for breeding deer in the 1990's. A persons choices were either to haul your doe to the breeder or buy him and bring him to your farm. Buckwheat, Sammy, later Lester, Roy D's Pepsi, Adon Hoschsteler's bucks, and Zeigler's bucks were about the best bucks around within reasonable driving distance at the time. Eddie took several of his doe over and pasture bred to Pepsi and later bought Scooter and Thunder from Adon I believe. Pepsi came along after Johnny. Eddie Ray is the person to talk too about the Patrick and Johhny cross.

Thanks Jonathan.  I doubt anyone knows anymore but there could be a chance Johnny was a Patrick son or Patrick Jr. son . Maybe thats why they went back to Abes, for line breeding. Eldon

I think I know of some Patrick Jr. semen, does anyone have interest in it if I could find it?

I will double check first to make sure the person still has straws. All I know is that he was out of JB and Patrick 111 if memory serves me right.

There was a straw of Patrick Jr last week on the exchange that had no bids last time I looked auction night! Great line. Glad I have a few little ***** coming along well.

Mike

That buck on whitetail exchange wasn't JB on P111-Patrick Jr. aka Johnny Cash. BRF Patrick Jr is a son of the original Patrick Jr aka Johnny Cash. Kurt Hunter changed the name from Johnny Cash to Patrick Jr. I don't know what Pete Carroll called him after that?

Good to know. It just shows how much homework a guy has to do to know the real story and the true bloodlines. A couple letters changes the whole picture! Thanks!

Jonathan Bell or any other geneologist, Before I type up these peds see if you see any mistakes besides after Blazer where I need Scooter/J.P. Pat 111.

Hahaha

Doc's mother beauty is G-1. She is from the Gsell's Patrick line which also goes back to Abe's herd. Everything looks right to me.
