pmsg

Once pmsg has been reconstituted, it must be frozen. Refrigeration isn't good enough. In my opinion 1cc of fresh is best. Filling and freezing individual syringes with 1.5cc is a good option for left overs. I give a little more if it has been frozen.

I had a bunch left over. Jack told me that it can be frozen and used for next yr. He has personally tested it.

I just gave each doe a lil extra instead of saving it tho

Mature doe that often have singles our great candidates for a little extra pmsg.

Yes it can be frozen and used next year.  One thing I would point out is if your semen is on the expensive side I would use fresh Folligon it just isn't worth it to be on the cheaper side with such a inexpensive part of the AI program.  Bell is right a little extra like 1 1/4 cc is what I use on older does that are having single fawns. .  I also use 1 1/4 cc on yearlings.

Well we did 37 whitetail does today with LAP AI and all went well.  We will do the mule deer tomorrow and then move on to the sheep project.  One day down and 4 more days of work.

Good news is our weather went from zero to 30 above today so temps were easy on the deer.  Recovery went very well on all animals.

I'm sure glad I had a microscope as the straw of Blazer I had for the last 14 years was all dead.  We were able to breed those two does to semen that was good.

I had bought some Paco semen as my grandson wanted some nontypical deer.  This semen was the best I have had for the last two years and had a real 40 million of good viable semen.  Most semen I had was not splitable and we used one 1/2cc straw per doe.  Even at that I feel most of them will not take to AI because of the quality of the semen.  Really this industry has to produce better semen for the consumer and give an honest 40 million per one cc and have a good evaluation of forward movement.

I only need freeze it for a few days. I am live breeding most of my does but I am giving pmsg and cidrs. I will send one to the buck every other day. He is only one year old so I want to space them out for him. Should I freeze it to use it all in a week? How do I thaw it?

Brett,

My opinion is if you only draw from the bottle what you need each time and let the bottle in the fridge it will work and be fine.  The makers of it say it can be held that long with no problem.  I wouldn't bother freezing it for that short of time.
