Preserve Hunts

We just finished our 2009 season and it ended up being our best ever. We ended up harvesting more bucks than ever and more big bucks than ever. I believe we ended up harvesting close to 40 bucks that scored over 200 in 2009. The biggest buck harvested this year scored 340 B&C.

The economy did make it a little more of a challenge and we did have some cancellations. Fortunately we were able to fill a number of those spots with new hunters. We were also lucky to have a little higher success rate than in past years. That being said we did have a 300"+ and a few 250"+ bucks that were able to give us the slip this season. If we would have harvested those bucks it would have been an incredible year for us.

Looking ahead to 2010, it appears as though we have about 95% of our 2009 hunters rebooked. We have also added approximately a dozen new hunters for 2010. We still have some hunts to book but early indications are that 2010 could be much better than 2009.

We did update our website http://www.wildernesswhitetails.com with some of the photos of our 2009 hunts. If interested these can be found in the trophy gallery.

Congrats on a great season Gene! Those are some awesome looking deer! I have to ask about the deer in Pictrue 15, he looks like the biggest bodied deer I've ever seen:eek: How much did he weigh?

We estimated his weight at 420 lbs. The hunter that harvested him actually hunted the deer for 2 weeks. We had an extremely hot September and being as big as he was he never moved during daylight. It wasn't until we got a cold front in that we were able to get him. He scored 229 with a 205" typical 9 point frame.
