York, PA -

Chronic wasting disease was not detected in a deer known as "Purple 4" that had escaped from a farm in Huntingdon County, according to the state Department of Agriculture.

The doe escaped from an unlicensed deer farm in Alexandria, Huntingdon County. "Purple 4" was shot by a hunter last month and tested at the Pennsylvania State Veterinary Laboratory, a news release states.

The Huntingdon County deer was linked to the New Oxford, Adams County deer farm where the disease was originally detected, the release states.

Henry thats great news. On the flip side a 2nd one tested + in Iowa on Brakke's Preserve. My understanding is that the 1st one was only in the preserve 1 1/2 hr before being harvested and came from their breeding facility way north of the preserve.

That is excellent news to everybody. Thanks for the hard work guys. Yall get this investigation done so we can move deer again. Thanks
