My wife attended her weekly rotary meeting today. They had a guest speeker,Bob Ducharme, QDMA Great Lakes Regional Director. She told me that he was bashing deer farms so bad with false information, that she left the meeting. What do we do with ignorant people like this.

You need to take a tape recorder and tape their false statements. We need to take these people to court, if it costs them out of their pocket they will watch what they say. They will have to prove in court their statements and they can't. We are now in a war with the DNR and these others groups, we can't hold our punches any more.

To bad your wife didnt stand up and hand it to that guy and everyone else in the room with the truth. With those people walking out of that room believing what that guy had to say sure didnt help the family but Gary is right and now we all need to be on our toes, Not with just the qdma dipsticks but with our own states. Dont trust anyone is my motto from here on in!!!

You stand up for the industry no matter what the costs. Guys that think the DNR are friends really don't get the agenda. There is not a DNR in the United States that is on the side of the deer farmer. They are the main force behind all problems this industry has. They just use groups like QDMA to present the lies and problems in the negative light they put on it. This industry is now on the attack finally. Only a few still think we can all get along.

Even in Montana it still is the DNR causing problems. They found out I had Texas dall domestic sheep and it only took a few days for them to make them DNR type livestock. I shipped them in with Dept of Livestock paper work as they said they were domestic livestock about a year ago. As domestic sheep the tax on them was fifty cents but now under the DNR the tax price will go to thirty dollars per animal per year. Just got screwed again. If anyone can tell me what their State classes Texas dall as either domestic or DNR animals I would be appreciative.

Jack, You need to do what Missouri did, go to the Commissioner of Commerce of your state. You need to appeal to him that they are impeding commerce [trade]. Legislatures in this time frame are very sensitive about business [jobs]. The DNR is over stepping their bounds. If they can't stop you, they will restrict and regulate out of business. Good luck!!!!

Thanks Gary, That's what I was looking for advice on what to do. I contacted the Montana wool growers but will not hear back from them till tomorrow.. I was very dissapointed in our Dept of Livestock as they would not fight for these domestic sheep as I asked them too. Heck they allowed me to import them under domestic livestock. I bought breeding stock in good faith as I wanted some animals not under the DNR regulations because I'm sick of the absurd DNR requirements.

I will contact the Commissioner of Commerce tomorrow and see what they could do for me. It's a dirty deal to be the only deer farmer in the State, not much power that's for sure.
