There have been a few moose breeders in Minnesota through the years excluding the zoos. Maybe only one guy left that prefers to remain "underground". The last few left the state and went to a private group in Texas and a small herd got broke up between a couple zoos. They are very difficult to raise and have a very high price tag.

They are also susceptible to brain worm and other diseases. The venison market is predominately red deer, which have large bodies and are easy to handle.
