They look good. I have 3 Maxhoo daughters out of a Maxboson Doe. I don't know much about what he is throwing? Do you know much? Could I get a good picture of your buck? On the semen collecting it is hard to say, if you can sell enough to pay for the collection you will still have some for future use if something happens to him.

Maxaroo is a good looking buck with pedigree to back it up. I think you should do okay drawing him. More pictures would help. Thunder Chief is a good looking buck as well, but my eye is drawn more to Maxaroo.

I'm a 200 @ 2yo kinda guy. Both are good lookin deer for sure and have good lines. Nothing wrong with pulling them and using in your ai program for the genetics. On the other end I'm not sure how much market for 200in straws there is, I'd think not much. Best of luck

I am often asked this question. I do not talk people into collecting bucks to increase work for myself.



When first thinking of having semen collected from a buck, do not think about semen sales. The first question should be:



Is this buck a vital part of my present and future breeding program? This is either based on present performance or pedigree.



And:



Can I justify the money and the risk in collecting this buck by what I would lose if he was not available for live service within my breeding program?



These questions get to be a bit of a catch 22 (hey that would be a good name for a buck, a little recognition from the first user would be nice), in that collecting yearlings would be nice in case of losing the buck. But, in reality, most would not have the courage to use the semen unless it was an exceptional yearling, or until they saw the production at a later age.



What I am trying to say is:



Is this buck vital enough to your program to justify the money and risk?

Would you be more comfortable (sleep better at night) knowing that his genetics are preserved in the advent of losing the buck?

Remember, semen sales are possible, and semen trades are also a good way to bring new genetics into your herd.
