i just got done filling in a 2 acre pond but now i have a 15 foot hole of silt that is absolutely nasty. i am going to fence it off before i let the deer go into the pen but was wondering if anyone else had ever had a big deal of quick sand like this and is there anything i can do to fix it beside just let it dry out?

How was the pond fed by spring? Did you redirect the ponds feed source? I guess there was no way of draining the pond first or you would have done it. Sounds like you are just going to have to wait it out now........if it doesn't get better you may have to redirect the feed source away from the pond......

there is not a real feed to the pond it was drained of water but all of the silt was pushed into one big hole no real way of getting it out

I had 2 just like it. I lost 90% of all my fawns. I highly recommend fencing it off immediatly. The bacteria will be too strong for them to live. Wait till it dries then disc it under. Just my 2 cents but my experiences were not good

Portland cement, mix in with the slit, after it hardins covery in dirt. We do this all the time in the oil refinery when we need to dry a hole up.

Doesn't take much, 1 bag for every 100sq ft. (give or take) If you can get someone to pre mix the cement with sand it will go along way. Call your local Ready Mix plant and get a cost on a truck load pre mixed.(not concrete truck but a dump truck (30 cubic yard or 12 cubic yard) That's how we buy it when we have large wet areas.
