being new to this deer farming business i purchased a breeder buck from a guy that may have a questionable past. as of now i am at an empass as what to bred him to . so claim his genetics are 2nd. to none in the industry. there are places that he excells and other places he is lacking. could use some help on this matter. also should i collect this guy or wait and see.

I would say to start by getting him dna'd to see if he is who the seller says he is......then go from there....

I wouldnt get all worked up just yet because someone may have told you the person is questionable. I have heard the same thing before but most time's find it not to be true. Some farm's dna most animal's and other's hardly any. Every animal that I have ever bought and then did dna has came back as who I was told they were. If you think you have a breeder quality buck then I would dna him for sure. I do dna all of my female's that I plan to keep but dont do my buck's.

I am pretty new to deer farming also but I know a lot of great farmers in this state. I would love to come out and talk some deer with you I believe my farm isn't to far from you, if you are in Springfield my farm is in pumpkin center. If I don't know I can put o in touch with some really knowledgeable farmer in the area.
