Might want to watch out for that client.

Interesting states that were picked. I would advise your client that he can accomplish a successful hunt in a larger acreage ranch. A hunt in which he is requesting is not available.

Midwest can you clarify the size. It looks like you are looking for a hunt on 2 - 20 acres!

The industry does not support such action in a small enclosure as a hunt.

It is just this sort of "hunts" that gives the industry a bad name. This is not hunting!

He understands its not a hunt, he is short on time and looking to gather product usage footage. He has done this in another state, but that place is no longer open. The states listed are because he is located in IN and doesn't want to travel really far. I personally do not know each states laws on sizes of the preserves, so that's why WI was listed not knowing it was 80 acres Min.

sounds like he has shut one down run from him as fast as you can i dont get on here much but i would even question you any deer farmer new or old would never even think of asking such a thing just not ethical

Over the last couple of years I have had people contact me about shooting bucks right in my pens and I am always on edge thinking they are animal right groups trying to gather material. I always decline their offers and usually give them numbers and contact info of a real preserve. Don't get sucked in!

While some deerfarmers were against a minimum size for hunting preserves, 80 acres here in Wisconsin is really a modest size and we are glad that rule is in place.

And thats kinda on the small size after a few years of use if you have no regrowth or a browse line. We have to be careful where we tread on ranch sizes.

He's been a client for years, he hasn't shut anyone down. I see it as no different then someone shooting a doe or buck to get their genetics out of the herd or for the meat. Instead of this happening in the pen where their kept in its in a wooded pen. I should have worded the original post different and not labeled as a hunt. He plans on taking the meat home with him as well so it won't go to waste.

This should not be an issue. Large acreage, small acreage Bow or Gun. As long as it's legal and humane everything else is just an opinion. I may not have liked my Grandmother cleaning a chicken in the back yard but it tasted good for dinner.

I believe it is an issue when a industry like ours is watched by so many. Some opinions can sink ships. Why give them anything else to fight with?

We have fought this perception in Indiana for years thinking we hunt deer in 5 to 40 acres pens. We finally won our court battle for now and certainly dont condone activities like this. If he wants meet shoot it and have it ready for him when he arrives. If he wants quick easy pictures go to a deer farm and take them. If he wants to hunt then go to a hunting preserve. Just my opinion.
