Last weekend two very special hunters Kelsey and DJ got the opportunity to hunt at Oak Ridge Whitetail Adventures. The shooting preserve is owned by Sam and Sonya Holley and located in the rolling hills of Ashtabula County, Ohio. The deer harvested were donated from the Whitetail Deer Farmers of Ohio (WDFO).
Kelsey and DJ both live in PA and until last weekend only dreamt of harvesting a trophy whitetail buck.
DJ was able to take an outstanding ten point buck and a doe with a cross bow and Kelsey harvested a dandy of a 17 pointer with Thompson Encore pistol in .44 Magnum caliber.
Kelsey didn't get a shot at a deer during the first evening of the hunt, but she wasn't going to yield to disappointment. Kelsey did finally get her chance, and she took a 255-lb buck that green scored 205 with 17 scorable points! She made a 35 yard shot with a .44 magnum to harvest her tremendous trophy.
D.J. got his chance as well; he 1st took a doe, and then laid the sights of his Horton Vision 135 crossbow on a buck. His shot was perfect, and he took a nice deer that scored between 150 and 160 inches.
Hunts such as these are part of that great story that needs to be told; public awareness is critical to understanding the deer farming industry and giving it the opportunity to prosper and grow the way it should!
A very warm welcome to the Oak Ridge Whitetail Adventures and the WDFO who gave their time and resources to share special moments that will live on forever in the hearts of Kelsey and DJ and their family. God bless.
