Does anyone have any fogger or spray you apply to your pens or directly to your deer to help with the flies and midges. We are currently adding garlic powder to our feed but would also like to spray the pens with something safe for the deer.

How often do you spray your pens with the permethrin......obviuosly the deer can eat this stuff without any complications?

DD, the back of the jug gives mixing ratios for several applications. Namely: directly on animals, back rubbers, spray on premises! I use both malathion and permethrins. Malathion is used on humans to kill head lice and fleas on dogs just to name a few!

For those of you who are not aware- My company NAWPS- North American Whitetail Protection Services- engineers and installs high pressure insect misting systems. Our systems handle large acreage and long distances. On a preset basis they will spray a fine mist of permethrin in and throughout your pens up to 24 times a day.

I've been using pure cedar oil this year and have been please with the results. No midge, ticks, chiggers, mosquitos or any other bugs visible to the eye. I still battle with flies though.

I've been using a atv sprayer, I mix 25 gallons of water to 1 gallon of cedar oil and 1 quart or hand soap. It's been effective based on my experiences but I still have flies. I'm not sure how it compares to permethrin though and a gallon of cedar oil runs about $80 so permethrin maybe cheaper.
