What is everyone paying for their Telazol? I know there was a thread awhile back and everyone was considerably less than the local vet. People are being charged $85 to $110 per bottle. Yep $1,100 for a ten pack. Any information on where to purchase would be Greatly Appreciated. Thanks

That's seems ridiculous.....I just bought some this Spring for 50 some dollars a bottle......I don't know if this BAM stuff they are talking about is cheaper....I guess it all comes down to how much you have to use per animal.....anyhow....I got mine for 50 something a bottle.......but my vet will only sell to his clients......

$60.00 a bottle here in Ny!!!

Just paid $80 a bottle here in PA. Glad to get it because, is it not a controlled substance? If it wasn't for our Vets giving us free range of the drugs we need, like Telazol, Xyzaline, Tolazine, etc., imagine the costs if you had to have your Vet do all the tranquilizing for you.

Just another way I look at the cost of things, there's not much you can do about it. Be thankful we can get our hands on it.

Mick how os th EHD problems you have been having goin? I hope it has lightened up at least if not stopped.....

Dennis,

Still losing them. Trying everything we possibly can and spraying pens constantly. Spraying deer every chance we get. No misting systems yet. Moved some deer out of pens to try to save some of them, hopefully to be able to make a feed bill again this year.

We would like to thank everyone for the calls and advice we have been given. Just hoping for an early frost. The latest was a 190 inch typical 10.

Thanks for thinking of us.

Mick,

I am so sorry for the stress you must be going through......with all of these deer dying do you have to have every head tested for cwd?

Dennis,

How my earlier reply ended up in a different category, I have no idea.

As far as to answer your question, yes, we are required to test all of our animals even though they are dying from EHD which is a $25 fee per animal. Not only do you lose animals, but it costs you to lose animals because our 'wonderful' Department of Agriculture needs their piece of the pie too. Just to add another little note, I recently submitted 8 samples for testing for CWD from deer we know died of EHD. And being a certified technician, along with many others in this state, I sent a bill to the Dept of Agriculture, $25 per sample totaling $200 as a fee for pulling their samples. Have not heard nothing back from the Dept of Agriculture as of today. And as of today I have more samples in the refrigerator for them and will be submitting a bill along with those samples also when picked up. How big of a can of worms I opened, I don't know. And at this point, I don't much care.

They better pay you every dime Mick!! every last dime!! As we all know those deer were worth a heck of a lot more than that!! This all just makes me sick....very sick to the stomach....I can't begin to imagine your feelings......not even a little....

Dennis,

As far as EHD goes in the state of PA, more people need to get involved. Tomorrow at 11:00 AM (9-7-12), I have a TV interview with channel 11 out of Pgh. Also, I have done an interview with the Tribune Review and they will be taking photos tomorrow along with channel 11. I'm going to call out whoever wants to listen. We are losing deer nationwide to EHD. Its time that Federal and State governments gets off of CWD and focuses more on EHD. I will post what time this is going to be aired on channel 11.

Thank you to everyone that has read this and believe me, everybody needs to get involved.

Mick, I'm with you I promise.....please keep us posted........this virus is devastating...and you are right...the government needs to know about it!!

Dennis

I had my interview with channel 11 it airs at 5 to 6 10 to 11 tonight and 2 morrow morning

Great Job, thank you for speaking out to newspapers and news broadcasts. I will defend you, right beside you. I have not lost any to EHD this year, Thank God, but until the first frosty night comes along, my worries are not over. The unfortunate thing is, the frost likely won't come until October. We need to pray for a early frost (or multiple early frost) this year.
