I know you can't ship deer into Texas, but I have heard that they can ship deer out. Does anyone know the exact rules and if they can ship out, does anyone know a breeder who is qualified to ship to Oklahoma.

I have heard of Breeders in Texas that are now shipping deer out but I for one won't ever buy a deer from a state that will not allow deer from my state to enter thiers.

Before this turns into a bashing Texas thread, let me point out that Texas breekers spend a lot of money outside the state in semen and partnerships.

and for the original question, there are a few ranches that can and do ship outside the state, but they have to go through a very rigorous process of certifying their herd over a long number of years (5-7) testing every animal that dies on the ranch. Most places will never do it because of how invasive it is, plus they cannot buy deer from other ranches with a status lower than theirs witihout going backwards in their own status. I only know of two or three ranches personally that have this status.

That is what Pa does,(100% of my deer are tested, even if I kill them. Even my Fallow deer which they say can't get CWD) so if it's good enough for Texas to say they are Clear to ship out... It should be good enough to ship in...

Not saying it's you Steve...Just making a point!! I know it doesn't have anything to do with you :) and I know how much business Texas does with other states. I am just Saying....

We all need to be in this fight together!!! Not work for ourselves or against ourselves. Everything needs to be a deer farming issue as a whole..."United we stand, Divided we fall"

Droptine,

I that Texas and other closed border states spend alot of money on semen here in the north and thats great there are even a few Texas bucks that I would love to have semen out of and I would buy if I could afford to.

But as far as buying deer from a state that will not let me ship a deer in I will not do it. Closed border states use CWD as the reason for the borders being closed but then use semen out of the norther deer (Which is no differant than bringing the deer it self across the lines).

If China closed its borders would US or any other country by from them. Its called fair trade.I have no problem buying or selling semen with a closed border state cause it goes both ways but as far as animals they should not be aloud out if they are not aloud in. O bar ranch just be careful cause if some find out your animals come from a closed border state alot of people might not buy from you.

O bar, Why pay Texas prices when you can buy Oklahoma deer for 25-50% off?

Reed 68 - I am also looking at Oklahoma deer, you actually sent me some pics the other day of some shooter bucks that you had. Im looking for ranches in Texas because owner wants me to. Thanks for the info guys

I live in a closed border state and really don't care if they open the border or keep it closed but as long as it is closed I would not feel right about shipping a deer out of the state. I know it would not be fair to ship only one way.
