I am coming to texas the week after christmas on a deer hunt was just wondering what the rut conditions and weather conditions are that time of year. We will be hunting around Llano if that helps.

That's a bit late for heavy rutting bucks but you may catch a few late breeders. Your guess is as good as any on the weather. I'm surprised every day when I walk outside... Haha Could be anywhere from the teens(on rare occasions) to the 70's. You should be able to tell as it gets closer. Last I recall, Llano has the highest deer population of any county in the state so no matter what the weather's like you should have an eventful hunt! Good luck! Oh and be sure to eat at Cooper's while you there!

I agree with Josh. The rut in that area tends to be late November/early December. One of our places is just south of Austin and some of the deer are already showing signs.

Weather wise you can expect it to be cool, but nothing like PA. Typical weather would be above freezing at night and mid 60's during the day. Of course, I have worn a T-Shirt in the blind plenty of times that time of year.

It is beautiful country! Have a great time!!!
