I will list from the bible Adam and his descendants thru' Noah, the seed line of Jesus. They first will be listed as your bible names/spells them. REAL Hebrew will have many of the names spelled differenty but that's of no consequence. Along with each name I will translate to English the meanings of their names. DON"T quit reading yet! Adam (man), Seth (appointed), Enosh (mortal), Kenan (sorrow), Mahalalel ("The Blessed God"), Jared (shall come down), Enoch (teaching), Methuselah (his death shall bring), Lamech (the dispairing) and Noah (rest or comfort). Now let's look at the name meanings in sentence form. "Man (is) appointed mortal sorrow. The Blessed God shall come down teaching. His death shall bring the dispairing, rest (and). comfort." Thanks for reading, Ol' Scrape.

Scott, great point! I can picture Noah in the ark pleading with God to let him omit the blood-sucking critters!

Great post ol' scrape! Keep 'em coming!

I agree with y'all about the "skeeters". I hate chiggers worse, tho'. If my son comes over I wan't to show y'all something in the book of Numbers that will amaze you. I don't have much mastery of this computer or I'd do it myself. I will have to transfer something from my studies. You don't have to understand actual Hebrew for this but I will show you as plain as the nose on your face a picture of the cross, the Father, Son, The holy Spirit and man. Everything will be taken from the book of Numbers and maybe some from Leviticus to back it up. For you believers it will be very interesting. Ol' Scrape. I might have to ask Roger (Independence Ranch) for some technical tutoring since he's a pilot and this cross was only visable from some miles up when the Israeli's were in encampment.

Another rendering for Methuselah is "when he is dead it shall be sent". When you figure years up from the scriptures, Methuselah died the same year Noah went into the ark and the flood came. Methuselah was a believewr, so he didn't perish in the flood. But it is interesting to note that God used the longest life span (969 years) as his measuring stick before judgment came. He is long-suffering!

Scrapeline Thank you for posting that, it is very interesting I'll have to show it to some of my friends/family. I look forward to the post from Numbers if you get a chance. Thanks again

Rick that is pretty interesting too.......I love this stuff.......maybe we should have a thread just for us to be able to share scipture and fellowship.......I think that would be awesome....anybody else????

I couldn't agree more! After all, discipleship is what we all need more of anyway! Thanks for starting this one Scrape.

Guys i'm going to start a new thread called the Fellowship Forum....this is where we can share scripture and have fellowship........hopefully the forum will get used!!

Rick...and others...I am not Jewish but love studying from the perspective of the Hebrew people. From many rabbinical sources one can read about Methuselah. You have to understand how much importance the Jewish people put in their oral histories to appreciate their teachings. It is said that when Methuselah died the angels eulogized him and the flood was held off seven days to honor him. One can only wonder. I'll be teaching Sunday school class this Sunday and part of the class I want to teach about is what I mentioned earlier...the book of Numbers (English from Greek/ Latin). Even the name of the book bores most people but that happens when good ol' Western culture waves it's ugly head! DID Y'ALL know that if you start from Israel going east, everyone reads/writes from right to left and heading west from Israel it is from left to right. So, then there is something to this Eastern/Western culture thing!!
