One of my yearling does hit the fence today and now her lower lip is torn back about one inch.It is drooping, but she is eating and drinking well.Do these type injuries heal back or will she always have a droopy lip?

I have a deer that hit the fence and ripped her face about three inches past her nose hole... It ripped free from her pallet.

I stitched it as best as I could, but was worried because I could not stitch her on the inside of the mouth.

Here are some pictures...In the last picture you can see on the inside her nose was disconnected up past the white hair on the right.

I figured she wouldn't be able to drink,or eat right so... I SPENT ALOT OF TIME STITCHING.

She ripped it out the next day, her name is split nose.

She uses it like fingers to pick up food and grass...So it may hang down, but the only thing it should bother is the people looking at it...

GOOD LUCK

Unless you surgically re-attach the lip, it will not grow back to normal. However if she is still eating and drinking, other than cosmetic appearance, she will do just fine. I had a doe that tore her lip as a fawn and lived 15 years.

We have always had lips that are just pulled down alittle bit to heal up fine. One looked like he had a dip of snuff for a couple of weeks.
