I would like to know what some of you use when transporting just one deer, over a long distance that requires a night out.Is the box in pickup method. 3'x5'x4' adaquat?smaller? bigger? Or do some of you prefer the trailer and what is a good all arround size trailer that works best for hauling 1 to 5 deer. and what are your stall sizes for bucks. thanks Jerry

I don't know if it helps but we transported a doe 12 hours from Wisconsin to Central Ohio in a box in the back of a pick up. Our boxe's are roughly 30"Wx48"Lx48"H she did great just make sure there is not to many wholes to let her see much and also there are enough holes for adequate air flow. Not professional advise but it worked for us.

that is pretty much what I wanted to know. I want to make one big enough that an adult deer could be fairly comfortable in for possibly 36 hrs and yet small enough that it doesnt take a fork liift to get it out.the one at thunder valley appear too small for long distance and the larger crate it takes a fork lift to get the box out. thanks

Now our boxes are a lot bigger than most and smaller than some. Four guys can easily maneauver our box around with a full grown deer we have even done it with two guys but is a lot easier with the extra hands. Some people like the smaller boxes i think because they don't want there deer to be able to turn around in the box. Some body with more info might chime in here also.

I made a trip to Ohio last weekend with yearling doe in a box (2ft X 4ft X 4ft)in back of my truck. Its a 14 hr trip but the snow storm in Missouri made the trip 17 1/2 hrs long. She was fine though. I ve hauled older and bigger deer the same way for 14 hrs and they ve all been fine. Good luck ! Jeff

We use a box that is small enough to handle easily with 2 men and is still large enough that it will allow for a deer in transport to be able to with minimal effort turn around inside it. It is critical to allow room for that. If the deer tries and becomes stuck they may break thier neck! I will post measurements of ours first of the week since I loaned it out for the weekend. Good Luck

thanks everyone for the info.Wayn that was exactly one of my concerns and why I thought I would ask for an ideal measurement for those kind of problems that can happen.planning a trip from mn to pa.Jerry

Jhillerwhitetails, The measurements on our box is 48" long,30" wide,43" tall. We also made a set of metal handles that swing down out of the way when not in use, Hope this helps.
