Joe - people bring me fawns that I am bottle raising between 12-36 hours old, and sooner if there is a problem. If you are moving the fawns and the momma together, I would say as soon as they find their legs good, maybe a few days. I guess it depends on how far you are moving them and why.

How long from when a fawn is born until it is okay to transport that fawn to another farm? Thanks!

Joe,

Just reviewed you link to playbyfaith.com and videos from WALK FAMILY HUNTS AND SUMMER CAMPS. What blessing and wonderful use of our hunting resources. Thanks for fighting the good fight.

Scott

Make sure the dont slip and fall. put some dirt or something in transport box i would let them sleep in it few days. get use to it, or they will fight it. and break leg or two, let them, sleep in box few days! problem solved. done tried few times getting use to box works. something new freaks them. done had few broke legs. Dc

we use a medium size dog carrier for transporting fawns, the sooner the better probably all they do is lay there like they do in the field. Cover carrier with large towel to keep dim or dark

if they gonna fly pet carrer works great. smaller the better only standing room. they will fit. make dark or dim so they cant see out. with enough breathing. get them use to it! one night or two. like rick said.sooner the better. DC

Thank you so much for all of your advice. We are brand new to the deer farming business. We will be getting our first deer, a doe fawn this spring and we are bringing the fawn to a farm closer to us (a three hour trip, in all). What should the process look like, from when the fawn is dropped until she is moved? Should she be given shots? All help is appreciated.

Scott, thanks for the kind words and for checking out our website. We have been blessed by our relationship with the Walk family (all of them, from oldest to youngest). And we are blessed to be able to fight the good fight and minister the way in which God has called us.

Have a God day!
