What do yall think... We have a grown doe that was a triplet herself. The first year she fawned, we got triplets from her. Can we expect this to be her 'norm'? She just abandoned the runt last year - and was too late by the time we realized it. Will she probably always give trips? Thanks... Just trying to plan ahead...Can I really print in PURPLE? :)

Unfortunately we have a doe line that gives us trips sometimes. We have one right now who was a trip when born and when we A/I'ed her the first year she gave us trips. The second year we A/I'ed her we got quads. Man I hope she stops that trend. All I want is 2 big healthy fawns from her. Having said that if you notice she has been A/I'ed each year, and she herself was from A/I. So the question is... how much did the drugs have to do with the number of fawns being born?

Last fall we cut the amount of drugs for her way down to see if we can just get twins instead of trips or quads.

Years ago before we did a/i there was a doe in the herd that was known for giving trips also. So to answer your question as best I can I would say expect trips each year but it shouldn't happen every year if naturally bred.

Thanks for the info. Our deer are all natural bred...This one is the only trip. It will be interesting to watch her offspring that were trips and see what they produce.

I had a doe that had twins a couple of times and then triplets after that every year. A guy in the next town had a doe that gave him triplets every year and then her doe fawns had them and then grand daughters did. He ended up having 5-6 sets of triplets every year from this line. Jim

Thanks for the info. This is a really sweet, very tame mama - we left her fawns with her, and while they arent as tame as her, they are very calm. She is a very big bodied doe; I would love to have 3 healthy fawns every year from her. Is there anything we can do to encourage her to take care of #3? Last year she was in a big pen with 6 others dropping fawns, and maybe she just thought 2 was enough and left #3...

Try putting her in a pen by herself. Less stress and easierfor her to keep track of fawns. Just my 2cets
