made this feeder up today . think it will work ?7105:feeder4 009.

I bet every one is getting tire'd of looking at stuff that i build ,but maybe it will give someone else some idea's ???

you can have mine , i built me a new one ( here i go talking and bragging on the stuff i built :eek: ) wanna see a picture of it ???
 
Jamie I think you have to much free time. You might want to put a bead a silicon around the corners to keep from banging your noggin. :)

i had it sitting out yesterday in the storm we got here 35 mph winds , it never moved . if the rain blows in on that feeder it will blow in on your $500 dollar gravity feeder spouts to .
 
It looks stout but it will get the feed wet. I've got one similar that I made and had to drill 1/4 holes in the bottom to let the rain drain. Ofcource my deer are finicky and don't like soup especially if its cold. Rick
 
Here is a picture of one that I built about 10+ years ago.

I also had to drill holes in the barrel ones when I covered them.

The Buck in the picture is Indiana Pride with his fourth rack.

I'm with most in the fact the roof could stand to be bigger. You could have a roof the size of a barn but when the snow flies and wind blows the feed gets covered. Cute though.
 
I HATE trough feeders. I find that I will be feeding *****, hogs, and everything else, and maybe some deer. For small pens, ***** would be my primary problem.



Here, for trough feeders, we use a wind guard that rotates to protect the feed from wind, and rain.

If you got hogs gett'n in your deer pen , i think you need to work on some fence .

I guess, but I have about 10 miles of perimeter fencing, and keeping hogs out in sugar sand is about impossible. It is far more cost effective to use hog proof feeders.

Hardpan, can you send me a picture of your feeder with its wind guard? - if you have a picture...We have A LOT of wind 363 days out of the year so we've been looking for a feeder that might help keep rain out. Thanks!
