Try a little apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle. Works great on my bottle fed fawns that start nursing on each others tails after I feed them. Also works to keep flys and mesquitoes off your deer.

Are you sure it is not mom? Only reason I ask is because I've dealt with this issue and had 3 fawns get nibbled on before the culprit showed herself. What I did was gave a dose of penicillin and cleaned, sometimes I had to give a second dose of penicillin.

No he is mother raised unfortunately. I thought the mother as well and then I watched him pull a big clump of hair off in his mouth. The pen is a pretty big pen and only has 11 deer in it and thats counting fawns. So I dont think its over crowding. Do you think I should try and catch him and stress all the other deer out and is it a big deal that maybe I should just watch it. Im just worried about infection.

I would just watch him, it may dry up on its own!
