What does everyone else do when a doe has triplet bucks fawns? Do you let her raise all 3 or do you pull one so as not to stress the doe out from raising all 3?

They were 7lbs 4oz-5lbs 130z-4lbs 13oz. The littlest one was very spunky!!

They were born very early this morning, so I have plenty of time yet to pull.

This her 3rd set of fawns....she's always had twin bucks before. She's a buck producer!! We are keeping a good eye on her to make sure that she's taking care of all 3 and she seems to be doing that so far.

Just want some other opinions on this since this is only our 3rd year of fawns and our first set of triplets.

Thanks much for your help!!

I would buy a lottery ticket since I would consider it my lucky day. We had 4 doe fawns and 1 buck fawn last year...our first year for fawns... and so far this year the first two are does!

At least you're building up your foundation herd. :D

I supplement feed I brought two up last night(my doe is special watch doing that)I feed them colostrum probiotics and trilution...I took them down this morning then brought them a bottle in the field now I have two with me in the house again...In your case I would watch her bag and fawns if one looks hungry still, give it a bottle young mine get used to it.

Good luck

Mine has Three and was cleaning someone else's through the fence and calling it.

But some doe will feel over whelmed and only care for Two.

Susan,

You will have to make that call because your there to see whats going on......if the little guy seems to hold his own and get his fair share and she is taking care of all three I'd let her go she can handle it. Thats my thoughts.....

Lottey ticket is right....wow!!! Randy came home this morning and said "We have fawns!!" He said he only saw one but when we walked out to the pen we could see another one and then opened the gate and I said....."OMG--there's 3 of them!!" He said...no way and I said oh yeah!!!

Thanks everyone....I think I will just keep checking on her and make sure that she's doing her job. The littlest one is the spunkiest of all of them....had a hard time making him hold still for his shots and stuff!!

I'm prepared though to pull one if I suspect he isn't getting all the right stuff.

We decided to keep her around another year :).......she may be one of those does that only produces bucks......

I would pull one and bottle feed it with your does. (If you have any?) I know I know bottle feed bucks are dangerous! Many farmers do it every year with success. What happens in 3 weeks and your doe is getting run down and you can't pull one then. Then the doe gets sick from being feed down at 4 weeks and dies!? Now you have 3 buck fawns that you can't feed and you hope they learn how to eat on their own before they die. Just my opinion. Good luck on what ever you do.

We made the decision last night to pull the smallest one. Seems she was just taking care of the 2 bigger ones all afternoon until around 8:30pm or so. Randy hadn't seen any action from her since he was working on a new pen by the doe pen. So I pulled him and went to the house and mixed him a bottle and he sucked down 3oz right away around 9pm. Wiped him and no pee....it was extremely hot yesterday here. He was definitely dehydrated. So I stayed up until midnight and gave him another 3oz and wiped him and he had very dark pee that smelled strong. Started feeding him at 6am this morning and have been feeding him 3oz every 3 hours and he is a totally different fawn right now. Even shaking his head and being spunky!! Putting some First Fawn Colostrum powder in the milk at every feeding. He even looks fuller in the body throughout the day. I have no doubt that he would have been dead this morning if we hadn't done what we did. Happy ending to the story....so far!! :)

Susan, sounds like you made the right decision. I hope he does great for you . Good Luck. Allen

I see them in wild with three all the time and they are fine. I personaly would pull one to make it easier on mom.
