We have chosen to use 8 Live Breeders for 2013. We consider these deer to be the best of our best deer. I thought I would list them to help the semen winners choose a straw.
We picked our breeders based on the following characteristics (in no particular order):
1. Age. They must be big and represent what we want to produce at age 2. We are breeding for mature deer by age 2. If they get big at 3 and 4 that's fine, but we will select our breeders based on how they looked at age 2.
2. Score. Most of our breeders should score over 250 at age 2.
3. Look. We are looking for wide, big, pretty frames with extras. We still charge mostly by the score.
4. Pedigree. We want deep DNA'd pedigrees to predict repeatability and production.
