Whitetail Exchange is Back up and Running

UPDATE FROM SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

Wednesday October 5th, 2011 10:00 PM EST



Our web server, which runs Whitetail Exchange.com, crashed on Wed, October 5th, 2011 at 10:00 PM EST due to the failure of its primary hard drive. Our web server runs a "DUAL" or redundant backup system that copies all data to backup drives in real time so we will not loose any information at the time of system failure. However, the "Downtime" was caused by having to shut our system down to replace the bad hard drive and then re-sync the backup data.



We will be adding a secondary server in the very near future so if the primary drive ever fails again, we can instantly tell the secondary server to take over to eliminate any downtime. Like any thing technical or mechanical, things can break without notice and because of our policies and technical planning, it has allowed us to run with very limited downtime over the past 5 years.



As this situation arose, our team at Whitetail Exchange.com immediately put a plan of action in place to restore the system and to prevent any similar occurrences.

Whitetail Exchange would like apologize to those that were either selling or buying on the site on Wednesday October 5, 2011. As you noticed we had some "technical" difficulties with the site. We would like to assure everyone that we are doing everything we can to assure that this doesn't happen again.



ALL auctions that were to close after 10:00 pm that night, that had bids on them have been restored and are now set to end next Wednesday night, October 12, 2011. All bids are restored and all auctions are live.



Some people received "Successful Purchase" email from that night's items. Everyone that received one will get an email with the following message in the very near future



"Please disregard this email. Do to situations out of Whitetail Exchange's control, our server malfunctioned during the Wednesday No Reserve Sale on October 5, 2011.



All items that ended at 10:00pm Eastern Daylight Time or later will be reset to the point they were at when the server malfunctioned. You will be the high bidder on this item at the price listed below. This auction will resume immediately and will end on Wednesday October 12, 2011 during the Wednesday No Reserve Auction.



We apologize for this huge inconvenience and assure you that we are doing everything within our power to see that this never happens again."
