I cant' seem to hit my deer with it! At first I tried adjusting pressure to hit deer as light as possible, they out ran the dart. Then I've learned to up the pressure and aim low, but now have problem over shooting them. I'm thinking of only shooting a min pressure of 4 or 5 and resighting my scope. What works for most of you guy's that use the x-cal?? I'm wasting a lot of darts and educating my deer. Also what's the most pressure that you would feel safe hitting a deer at 15yds?

Put water in the dart so it can weigh like the real thing and practice shooting a target or a tree....if it shoots low .... Give it more pressure...if its shooting high ... Lower the air pressure. Did it come with a scope ? Or you mounted your own ?

I shoot 1 1/2 cc darts like at 10 o clock pressure. I think its like 50 pound pressure.I also add a line with a black marker on the gauge so I can always try to use the same pressure.

Yes I have the scope that came with it and it shoot right on the money with the pressure chart that came with it. Problem is trying to hit deer very close with slow dart speeds...they out run the dart! I'm looking for a the highest setting on the gauge that wont bury a dart into a deer at 10-15yds but have a flat trajectroy that they won't dodge. Also I've had problem's trying to adjust pressure and the deer spooking due to the air sound...thus hoping to find a "higher" pressure that I can hit with at several ranges without making adjustments.

I shoot my deer pretty close to what is suggested in the back of the owners manual, sometimes I adjust a little higher than the chart suggest. Does anyone else's gun leak pressure when it gets maxed out on the gauge? I cant shoot much past the 6-7 setting before it starts leaking and losing pressure, fortunatley I never need to shoot with that much pressure. Other than that, this is the best gun i have ever used

I would say you are safe hitting a deer at 15 ft with 40-50 lbs. I used to waste a lot of darts when I started with the Xcalibur. I have got to the point where it is rare to miss any shots under 40 yards. I have learned that it is better to turn the pressure up a little bit so it shoots flatter. You can do that without blasting a hole in a deer. The best thing you can do is buy some practice darts and spend some time with a target.

Antlershed, I own two x-calibers, new model with glow in the dark and the older without. My old one use to max out when i put in a new tank. Pnuer dart company has a kit for those leaks ... And can install a glow in the dark guage. Check with them !!! Well worth it !!!

Pokeweed,I wouldn't go less than 25 pound pressure. I know exactly what you mean now....I guess if that dont work for you,try getting a co2 or pump rifle from pnuer dart. Those x-calibers are great .... You can dart like 40 does in 45 minutes. I have had does close to me ... But i just pass on them till they get futher out . Goodluck !!! Marcos
