Went out to feed the deer today and spotted a yearling buck with a white spot on its eye. What is it, and is there anything I can do??

Thanks Wade

Do you mean that the eye has an opaque haze on it?

If so probably a permanent injury. It might effect antler growth.

Thanks Curtis, your probably right on the money. It's not the whole eye, just a 3/16" round spot. I've probably seen it before but just thought it was glare from the sun. Doesn't seem to be any damage other than the discoloration.

PICTURES!!!!!!!!! If it is an eye infection a heavy dose of B12 Complex will help, but without a photo I am just guessing.

I have seen white (opaque) spots on eyes before, twice on fawns and twice on adults. Both adults cleared up with no lasting effects, but both fawns ended up blind. I would treat with b12 and antibiotic asap, but won't guarentee any results. good luck.

Thanks guys, B-12 and antibiotics it is. A picture I think would be darn near impossible to get. He's a ten footer and the lite spot isn't all that noticable to start with. Thanks again Wade
