i have a 2wk old fawn that when i feed last night had a yellowish foamy looking stool. i started her on albon 3cc last night but was unsure if there was anything else i should do? what could cause the stool to be yellow?
any idea's to what would make her stool turn yellow would be appreciated. one day stool is good next day it was a foamy yellow. is it ecoli? what should i treat with?
I can't help you, sorry...but I was curious what causes the foam as mine had a foamy stool this morning...gas perhaps? As far as the yellow, you've got me there...is it like bright yellow or more tan/yellow-brown?
They are starting to get to the age where e-coli is out and Coccidiosis could be the problem. However there are many other things it could be too. Take a a fecal sample to your Vet. That sould narrow things down for you. Hope all turns out well!
Yellow stool wouldn't bother me too much......I have had all different colors and if you raise enough fawns you will too soon enough.....usually coccidia you will have a black tar stool or bloody diarriah.........the foamy i would say is gas and if the fawn is not bloated i do not think i would worry about that either unless it continues ........how has the fawns stool been lately??
yellow frothy stool is usually a tell tale sign of a butt licker. If this fawn has access to other fawns, isolate it for 24 hours, give some baking soda dissolved in a little bit of water and some probiotics and see if the stool is better. If so, keep that fawn isolated at all times, or you will have such an imbalanced pH, that you cant correct the problem.
the last 2 days her stool has been yellow foamy. i don't think she is a butt licker, i do have one but his stook is always fine. she got her second round of albon today and i have added extra probotics to her bottles hopefully everything will settle out tomorrow. thanks for everyone's responses. i will let you guys know how it turns out.
