My dad is using Zoologic for the first time for his fawns this year. The fawns are doing fine - the problem is mixing the Zoologic with the water. He has tried every method imaginable using water of various temperatures and still has difficulty getting the powder to dissolve/mix in with the water. Between the mixing & the feeding, he's not getting anything else done and most of it is the mixing. I tried calling the manufacturer multiple times and have only been able to leave a voice mail each time - with no call back from them. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Thanks for your reply, Josh. I guess I should have mentioned what he's tried other than different water temperatures - he's tried various types of blenders, a paint stirring contraption and hand stirring. A regular style blender seems to work the best but seems extremely time consuming for 20 - 25 fawns. It foams up so he can only fill the blender about 1/2 full. He spends 2 to 3 hours a day just trying to get the stuff mixed up - just seemed like there might be something he wasn't doing at all or something he was doing wrong. :(

we use it. with warm water and hand shaking in a plastic jog with a lid works great for us....GOOD LUCK,

i mix mine in a pitcher with a wooden spoon. i use warm to hot water. takes me about 15 mins to make all my bottles. for the ones that go to the fridge after mixing, i just give them a little shake after i take them out of the microwave. i have had no troubles doing it this way. but as most things are with deer, just because it works for one person, doesnt mean it will work for another.

We use a wisp and it mixes in 10-15 seconds. We stir longer to make sure it is all dissolved and never have any powder left over in the bottom when we pour it out.

I use a hand mixer with a wisk attachment. It seems to do the best. It does foam up some, (Not as bad as the blade mixer) but I remove the wisk attachment from the mixer and use it to stir the formula and the foam dissolves quickly. One hint... the warmer the water the more it makes foam. So, we use luke warm water and it works perfect.

I also make sure that I pour the last bottle for my strongest fawn. That way if there is any granuals still remaining in the formula, those granuals can be sucked through the nipple by the strong fawn and not get clogged as easy as it would with a smaller, weaker fawn.

This is just the way we do it and it works for us.

Thanks to all of you for the information on the methods you use! I will be passing along these and any future postings to my dad for him to try. I'm sure one of them will work better for him than what he has been doing - your input is very much appreciated!

Call 1-800-323-0877 dial ext 2230 which will put in direct contact with Jennifer who places all of the doe replacers orders.

to the guy that puts his mixed milk in the fridge and then microwaves it later...I would recommend warming up to temperature using hot water instead of using a microwave.

I used to just put Zoologic in a blender with hot water. I then let it cool down a bit and during that time the foam will go down. Pour in bottles and I was ready to go.

I changed to River City Fawn Formula this year and it doesn't foam up so can use it right away. Still use the blender.

are you storing the powder in a fridge ,the only time i have a problem with it clumping up and not dissolving is when the kids leave the formula out of the fridge in between feedings it draws moisture and doesn't want to mix

If your asking me Montana has no moisture to speak of so it's not a problem.

I use the Ninja blender with hot tap water, blend 1/2 of powder then add other 1/2 and blend. I let it sit and defoam for a few minutes and mix again in short pulses. After mixing, I pour into pitcher for settling down before I pour into bottles. Sometimes if I am in a hurry, I will skim off the top using a folded paper towel.
