matted

I had 2 buck fawns born yesterday morning and one of them had his eye matted shut i cleaned it up a little, but this morning when i went to pull them i noticed his right eye is still a little matted is this an infection? Or something else? What should i give him for it and how much? Thanks

Does anyone out there have any preventative ideas for matted eyes in fawns? I have treated them with terramycin in the past but would love to figure out what is really causing it to begin with. Or do you have a better treatment. They usually don't develop this until they are several weeks...
