I still have one yearling in velvet, this is the latest I have had one with velvet, but i have only had deer for 3 years. His velvet will be gone tday though, he was all cracked and bloody last night. Magnus is a great looking buck.

Our last one is shedding now. 3 years ago I shot the Mo. state record velvet buck on Sept.16 or 17Th.

Thank you. It has been great watching him grow this season. last year he broke off his left main beam just past his G-3 in mid July and basically quit growing from there on

I have Magnus(3yrs.) and a 2 yr. old Rolex son left to polish. As far as I can tell, niether of them are dried up completely or cracked. It may be a few days. Oh well, time will tell

Paul, I would like to see a picture of the state record you shot. That is awesome. Did you get him with the bow?

Go to Paul's profile and look under the "bow kills" album. It is the one on the right. He shot it with a bow on public land in the POURING rain. When I took that picture I was standing waist deep in the river and didn't get any wetter than I already was. I am his "Official Dragger", and yes Paul and I drug this one out through the tangles of the island to the boat. He was big, body and rack. Paul spotted him while bow fishing on the river through out the summer and then went in and set up on him opening weekend.

Hey Paul,

That is an awsome bowkill. What did he score?

That is a great buck. We don't get a chance to hunt velvet bucks in WV. We can't start until mid October. We don't really even have much of a chance to find a P&Y to go after.

But I still go everyday of the season. I love to bowhunt.

When we started deer farming we bought a five year old buck , we brought him to the farm in mid August and put him in the pen with 4 does, he didn't rub his velvet until mid october, although the velvet was dried.

Magnus finally shed his velvet on 9/18. I still have one more 3 yr. old left, but he doesn't look even close to shedding yet.
