We have considered letting ours in the house but not to sure how to deal with the mess. How do you do it?

I just got these big pads they are made like diapers I guess they are used for people that pee the bed.......My friend gave them to me his wife works at the hospital....she said they sell them in the store......they are great because they just absorb up all of the mess........now my son doesn't always play by the rules as he did tonight he snuck the fawn in bed with him.......anyhow, they are allowed in for the first few days then it's out to the fawning pen unless they are sick and need lots of care.....alot of people just use big dog crates too.......I just put those pads down and kind of fence them in so they can't get off them. The thing I like about bringing them in for the first few days is they tame down quicker!! Plus their alot of fun!!

That's the same things I use Dennis.....I bought the extra large pads (I think they are called Assurance in Walmart). Then I have one of the plastic fences for kids. Works great. I keep mine in the house as long as possible to get them tame....at least a week. Course, my first year, Trixie was in the house for 2 1/2 months.....and she never had an accident. I just took her out everytime I fed her. The last 1 1/2 months she was outside all day in the doe pen, but I would bring her home every night in my car. Was well worth all the work as I watched her fawn in the dark with a flashnight 2 nights ago!!!

Talking about having the fawns in the house, i use the puppy pads that people you to house train puppies. They work great and are not to expensive either. I try to keep my fawns in the house as long as i can, but they make a mess of everything. They are sure nosey animals. Good luck everyone and have fun. Thats what counts!

We always have kept our bottle feds in the house at night for the first few days. We use playpens and let them outside during the day. Generally for the first few days they will not dirty unless stimulated. The first time we find a wet playpen, out they go for good.
