Whitetail Dreams and Timber Hollow Deer

Sam what did Timbucky score this year got any pucthers of him.

I got seman out of him.

Thanks Rick

Congratulations Sam,

Do you remember when I was so concerned with raising perfect typicals and you were trying to open my eyes to extras? You were right the hunters by far pay and want more than the clean 8 or 10.

All the best

Scott

Wow Sam, 421"! I think I know and own some of the secret. He has to be out of Queen Alexandria. Black Magic?

I found out today that I made a mistake! We harvested a buck in early November that I thought might be the ghost. It was only the second time we had ever seen this deer and he was a 5X5 with forked G2s. Knowing the ghost, I was surprised that this deer had showed himself!

But today we found the real ghost. The skull was in a brushpile and we were REALLY lucky that it didn't have a single chew mark on it anywhere. We were looking for a wounded buck that we also found.

This buck was amazing. He grew up in our preserve and I have never laid eyes on him. I knew he was there from the game cameras but he was so smart he never showed himself to even one of about 75 or more hunters in 2009! From the evidence we found and the condition of the antlers, I'd say he died late last year.

Here is the game camera picture and the skull we found today (the date and time were not correct on the game camera picture, it was taken in July 2009 at about midnight). The respect I have for these fine animals just grew another notch! :D

By the way he scored 191! I'll post some more videos of a couple other "native" (born and raised in the preserve) bucks that have eluded us all fall.

We had been seeing this rather nice looking 8 point on camera from July through last week. We had seen it a time or two in the preserve but never seemed to be able to find it when a hunter wanted it. Last week I put out 6 digital cameras next to the feeders in the preserve. From last week through Christmas, the buck was showing up at a feeder at 1:30 in the afternoon and then around midnight. I assumed the buck was a native deer born and raised in the preserve.

After calling a few die-hard hunters, I finally got one to come try to get him. We made a plan. We would sleep in (you got to love that!) eat breakfast at 8:00 am and then go to the stands the rest of the day.

On the second day (yesterday) he showed up at 1:15. That was the end of him. He ended up having a tear in his ear from a tag from long ago so I'm not sure where he came from. He scored 158!

Mike, Maxin Missle scored 297. I was hoping for 300, but an inch is an inch!

Dan just told me about a late August buck fawn we had this year out of a 2009 fawn. He said he pulled him and bottle fed him and he is doing great! Can anybody think of a good name? You guys are all pretty good at this!

Here is the pedigree:
