Antlers 2011

Here is a very interesting buck. I posted him on our other thread but it wasn't really getting many hits and I think this buck is special. He is Rim Rolex. The first two pictures are of him last year at age 1. The first taken a couple weeks after he ripped his left antler out in the fence. Dan didn't take any pictures before he ripped it out but said the left side was just like the right side. Almost a mirror image. He said it was the best yearling he ever grew in all his years of raising whitetails. Although he would have only scored around 200, he was very wide for a yearling and had a very typical frame. The second picture is of the right antler flipped and transposed onto the deers head. As you can see, he was a very nice yearling!

The next 2 pictures are of RimRolex at age 2. The first 1 is normal with a pedigree and the second is the photo-shopped photo.

A couple of days ago, we had to remove RimRolex's antlers. He was having trouble due to the lower more even and bigger right antler. I think if he hadn't of had damage on the left antler, he would have been even and able to hold it up better. At age 2, he scored 320 4/8 in velvet with a 27 inch inside spread. The good antler on the right had 29 points and scored 174 2/8 by itself. Dan measured the spread at 14.5 inches from the middle of the head to the inside of the right beam making it 29 inches total if he would have had an equal left antler. If the antlers were even he would have been 377 4/8. All at age two. And that's on a typical frame. This deer is SPECIAL. Look above at his pictures and the deep deep pedigree and you know why he is pushing so much antler.

If you study pedigrees, the RimRock part might not be that familiar. RimRock was a full brother to HighRoller but came a year later. He was bigger than HighRoller at 3 but died later that year. He was never used much.

This buck is over 300 inches, has a 400 inch sire, 400 inch grandsire, and 400 inch great grandsire. How many bucks can you name that have that? We plan on using him as a main breeder in 2011

Dan took a bunch of pictures right before he cut him and I'll post them as soon as the horse and buggy arrive! :D

Here are some of our yearlings from this year. We will be collecting semen on all of these yearlings.

The first 3 are out of Bambi Yardstick (33" Inside).

Bambi Gold is out of a Rold Gold doe

Bambi Tea is out of Texas Tea's mom

Yardman is out of Texas Tea's mom - Broke his right beam off, but he has great tine length and a beautiful frame for a yearling. His good side is a 6x. Had he not broken his beam, he would have had a better frame that Texas Tea did as a yearling!

The last one is Shadow Man

He is out of Say it ain't so Shadow and a Wildman doe

Well, I got some bad news and some good news. I lost Noble this weekend, we think to a heat stroke. We have had 45 straight days over 100 degrees and very little rain. There has been some EHD going around here the last 2 months, but he did not have the symptoms of EHD. He was fat and fine, looked just as healthy as ever, but I guess the heat just got to him. I am fortunate to have some daughters and sons out of him though. The other bad news is, I guess I am not a professional antler scorer just as I said before. Tombstone was officially SCI scored today 222inches. The good news is he is doing very well. eating and drinking-- back to his old self again. Thanks for everybodys support and I apoligize if I dissapointed anybody, with the earlier post I put on of Tombstones score. He is a great deer to us eitherway. I am just glad he is alive and doing good.

Everybody has some awesome deer this year all the way around the country.

Thanks again!!!

One awesome buck!! With all this talk this year about replicas not scoring within 140 inches of what was advertised its nice to hear someone honest about their score.

Dean

Chris sorry for your lost, the scoring thing is a very good thing to do even if your high are low on a est.Is to report the right score, alot of deer is hard to est. on the hoof. And Sam that was a nice yearling

Chris: I know this is a devastating loss for you to go along with the other hurdles you have encountered this year. He was a great deer. keep the faith & good luck.

Thanks to everybody for their support, we all know there is good days and bad days in this industry. You try to do the very best you can for these animals , but sometimes it just don't work out. I have had some bad days this year but I have had some of the best days also. I still look around my pens everyday and thank the Good Lord above for what he has left me. It is so easy to look around at what everybody else has and forget about what I got. We are blessed in so many ways we just dont know it. This is a trying industry for all of us, but me and my family love it and it helps keep us bonded together.

Thanks again!!

As they start to wind down here is what we have for our best typical looking deer. The first photo is Geyser & True Blue. Pic # 2 is Geyser a 4 year old out of RainDance & Thunder Storm. He has Patrick 110 & Patrick 111 on the top side. He also goes back to Thunder Storm & 5 Squaw (Patrick 110) on the bottom side. Pic # 3 is True Blue a 3 year old, out of Brody who goes back to Walk's Magnum over a Bontrager doe going back to Bam Bam. The last pic is Hugo who is out of Domino who is out of Dane & W 45 who goes back to a Pepsi doe. He also goes back to Dane & Nannie who is out of a Patrick 112 son on the bottom side.

They are about ready to break velvet & most of the worries will be over.

Thanks Steve. That PA.G grandson / Gitterdone 2 yr old typical you have is a real bute too. Have any of yours shown any sign of breaking velvet yet in your part of the country.
