Yeah thats a nice looking piece. This is only my 2nd one. My 3rd is about 3/4 done at the moment. It's just a spare time hobby for me so it's slow going. I got plans to do some pens and maybe some desk sets this upcoming year. Thanks for the comment.

I used to do wildlife carvings and checkering on gun stocks (never tried to go big). I saw moose carvings in several shops when we vacationed in Banff, Canada. You talkin' about some fantastic art! I just have to do this...my favorite moose carving would be with brown gravy....LOL

Haven't done any gun stocks yet but have thought about it. Pretty much into my "stag/antler" at the moment but I do think I'll try a few down the road.

I knew a stock maker named Ed in Ft.Worth when I did carvings. Ed would give me cut-offs from blanks to practice on. The blanks were 3-4" thick and most of them were native Texas walnut, a good wood to practice on. Something you might think about.
