I lost fawns last year from foxes. Born one day taged and the next day just gone. The foxes would jump in about five holes up on the fence. I had not given foxes a thought till I found a den of pups and there were my fawns legs and tags. Not many owls can lift a fawn up over an eight foot fence in my opinion so would be eaten right there on the spot leaving some sign of how they died.

UPDATE I feel small fawns found thanks to other does letting it milk it made it and the other was in high grass, some how the one got into another pen that had mother and 2 more that we could not get moved into the main fawn and mother pen. I got some good ideas from everyone I like the plastic barerals and still may use the net next year and elect on fence. right now this is 2nd year and we will have to try to buy stuff next year. we are expanding pens and have close to 30 head now. and they are eating better than us. good luck to all of you and your herd.

We use this black 4' x 100' fence on the side of our 2096-6 fence for preditors and also for fawns and antlers. it works really good for us. Call me if you want some rolls, I sell it and have shipped it all over the USA for that very reason. I get it specially made so it is extra thick and durable. We use a 4' fiberglass pole to secure it to the fence and wind passes through it easily.

This is what we use to protect our fawns. The wooded rack has small spaces so that does cannot get in. The wooded rack serves as shelter for the fawns and we also have a small feeder with Calf Manna that we give them starting at 1mo old. We then start mixing it with our regular feed 1mo prior to weaning.

The tubes are 36" pvc tubes that we bury about 5in into the ground. It has worked great as we do have a bunch of eagles and cara caras.

Best,

E

Hey Henry, So it's kinda like snow fence ? What does it run a roll ?

Wayne that is correct but this is about twice as heavy, I get it specially made for the thickness so preditors just cannot chew through it. Call me for the current price, thanks pal and good to hear from you.

Are you talking about Mike Brumfield? In Lewisburg?

How are Shirley and Allie? Making nice fawns for you?

yes mike in Lewisburg mailing address Frankford , Shirley and Allie are doing great and making fine fawns all the deer are spoiled Mike says they are eating better then him. we bred them with the buck mike got off JR Miramax so far he has thew 9 bucks and 3 does. Allie had 2 bucks Cole and Ryder and Shirley had 2 bucks Eli and Jonas. take care and good luck this year.

If you do not have chain link, Foxes can jump threw game fence. I know and had that problem years ago with foxes. Usually you will find a den close by and the adult foxes are feeding their young by bringing them to the dead fawn in the pen

Or if the fawns are laying up against the fence they can be pulled through the fence and carried off.
