This is a spin off from the other thread. When you see a buck like this ya better stay on your side of the fence. The last two years he has acted like this from mid September to March when he sheds. These pics were taken December 4th.:eek::eek: The buck in the background is bottle fed also, but so far has a little more sense.

Allen I have come across a bottle fed like that before. He was as mad as a wet hornet, he would bristle up like that, grunt, blow, and charge the fence at you. He would even do this if you were in a car driving by his pen. You need to get creative on how you feed them when they get mean like that! They are no joke when they are pissed off at the world like yours was in those pictures.

Must be pied thing. We have one that does the same thing. The browns just walk around but the pied will meet ya at the gate. He is 3 this year and someone has already called his number. We will have no more problems from him!!!

Seen that!! :)

Good pics Allen...and if heeded, they could save somebody's life!

Allen awesome pics...........this was the point I was trying to make.........bottle Feds are fun but can be very ......very.....dangerous.......and we as deer farmers need to think beyond our own fence.....God forbid a bad storm would hit in the fall and a tree fall on the fence and one of these bad boys gets loose.......not a good situation........just a thought.....

Dennis this actually happened to a friend of my many years ago. He had a tame buck like that. Something happened to the fence and it got out. It just so happened that my friend had a guy hunting out behind the pens. Well on his way back to the house he encoutered the buck. The buck actually attacked the guy. He ended up killing the buck with his hunting knife after a good beating from the buck. Luckly the buck had his antlers cut off or this could have had a different end.

No it's not just a pied thing, we had a brown one a couple years back do the same thing. He made tasty jerky.

Yep Dennis...just imagine...kids playing in their yard, a woman out hanging up clothes, hikers, hunters, etc, etc.

Imagine a 600lb mother elk trying to defend her newly born calf. While tagging calves this year, mother didnt see to kindly to me punching holes in her son's ears. Won't do that again by myself. Don't know if she would of acctually stomped me, but I wasn't sticking around to find out. Came back with my wife, son and a broom stick and we barely got the job done.
