After seeing the local news tonight it made me feel that this meeting is going to be alot of deer farmer bashing going on. My question is do I go and try to defend the deer farming industry or not? If so is there any farmer that would like to join antlershed and I at this cwd meeting to make our presence somewhat felt?
 
Travis, I would attend and see first hand what is going on........Try and remain positive if you speak and try your best to point out facts to anyone you talk with. I Know from experience it will and is hard to remain calm when talking with these folks!

I was at one these meeting in Iowa with a few others and I can tell you right now it will make a difference dont hide take the facts in with you stand up and talk educate them with the facts don't let em blame us. I know for a fact it will make a difference. Don't let the emotions take over either I think it made a real difference what we did, Scott Kent offered them the facts and they clammed up so go take as many as you can and when it's over let us know what you think the out come was good luck to you and remember we are all pulling for as uncle red would say "we're all in this together"

You need to "rally the troops" and attend. They're right, confront their lies with facts. That will discredit them in the eyes of the public. The DNR is not well liked in the public, and the public enjoys a "David vs. Goliath" scenario. Play to that.

Here are a couple of old articles that should help you. The questions are, who was all doing research on CWD and not 'fessing-up to mistakes made", and where do the cover-ups end?

Matt, You will find that there will be LOTS of folks there in the same boat as the lady you are talking about! :D



You have time to have your FACTS ready and to be prepared! Print up some fact sheets to hand out to folks who will listen to your side and are willing to look at Both sides of this issue .:)

I will also add to what Wayne said.

In Missouri we took a video camera and taped every meeting they had.

If they lie or say something that is not true, then you have them on camera and they can not dispute the facts, the camera does not lie!!!! I would have a few cameras there and make sure to ask questions on camera.

I was able to get approval for Lancaster county producers to be able to ship deer to Illinois.



I am working on Perry County now.



I also was able to work with Ohio to accept a farm in Cumberland County that is double fenced to be able to ship to Ohio.



If you are in one of these Counties or buying from one, and still run into trouble give me a call and I will try my best to work it out.

I may be speaking early but I am sitting in the meeting and see very low number of farmers here I may be wrong but I see one other one other than myself
