Doe got hurt 11 days ago please see pictures

Hello my 2 year old doe got scared took off about 30 mph jumped about 5 feet in the air and landed between the 6x6 support post and the fence.

It was only about a 3 inch gap she stuck in.



she has been fine all except the puffy area i assume where she broke the front rib.



11 days after the accident the spot has swollen see picture from day to now day 11..................any advice would be appreciated. I do not have acess to a vet but do have access to meds.

How's her appetite lately? Is she eating her normal daily rations? The reason I ask is because usually if there is any internal injuries then deer will stop eating, hold their ears back, and usually their hair will be bristled up on end. Those are common signs of stress.

Swelling is usually a good sign of healing. She may have broken a rib.

Another thing it could be is a pocket of pus developing between the ribs and the skin. If is very "squishy" than it is likely a pus pocket and should be drained, just poke her with a heavy gauge syringe needle. If the swelling is very firm and hard, then it should be fine.

If she acts like she's in pain you can give her some Banamine for pain and swelling. 3 cc ever 2-3 days for a week should be fine for an adult doe.
 
thanks for the reply, she seems fine eats good alert friendly as always, she will let me lay my hand on the spot..yes its squishy.it feels a little warmer than the rest of her body but not hot.
 
thanks, whats the difference in la200 and la300?

i would think i would want a antibiotic for wound infection? Baytril?

Dex and excede are for respritory infection.
