If you think you can't afford a high volume thermal fogger then check this out. Go to YouTube and search lawn mower mosquito fogger. All it takes is a running lawn mower, a few simple parts, a pump sprayer and about an hour of your time. I built one and it blows my ULV fogger out of the water. It uses the engine's exhaust to heat the fogging chemical. A bit red neck but works.

Jeremy,

I just rigged one up my self earlier in the summer! It is amazing how effective and cost effective it is! I was going to make a post telling everyone just like you did here. I mix my own fogging solution as well...I make the solution 5% permethrine, 5% PBO and mix it with mineral oil and diesel to thin it down.

Mount one on the existing exhaust with either a collar or weld one like I did. I came off about 6 inches from the motor, so the exhaust is good and hot, and installed a nipple to receive the pump sprayer hose.

Mine is a riding mower. All I did was mount a gas tank for the fogging solution and then ran 1/4" copper tubing with a valve from the tank to the exhaust. I also extended the exhaust out further and up at an angle. It is actually quite simple. I will try to get some pictures.

Yes but it is kinda tricky getting it to flow at first. After you let the exhaust heat up, you need to turn down the throttle (because of the back pressure) to let the solution flow into the exhaust.

I use a one gallon pump up sprayer tank that i cut off the wand and atached th erubber hose to copper tubbing that goes to the muffler and have an inline valve on the copper tubing to regulate the mix.

To fix your back pressure problem all you need to do is when you install the copper pipe into the exhaust insert it into the exhaust stream a couple inches and point the end towards the outlet of the exhaust, just like an aspirator on a tractor. the exhaust traveling past the end of the pipe will create a vacuum and draw the liquid out of the tube.

I am no doubt making one of these. Please post some step by step instructions and pics. Does the liquid just drip into the exhaust or does it need to be sprayed into the exhaust? Did you wrap the copper tubing around the exhaust pipe a few times and then let it drip in somehow?

Sounds like the ulv foggers our industry has been selling.........fixing to take a nose dive in sales :) . Rednecks will figure a way every time . They always have less money but figure ways to get it done all the same. Y'ALL got me interested LOL

her is my new bug fogger will see how well it works on the flies

this is where the line connects to the exhaust about 6in from where it comes out of the motor drilled a hole and screwed a nipple in pretty easy

Thanks for the pictures, this is a fantastic idea. We have been using a small propane fogger for 2 years with great success, but this sure seems like the way to go.

I to would be very interested in a 5 gal. mix breakdown if anyone would care to share.
