I have shared a lot on this forum about what I know with deer, and I have shared a lot about myself. I have talked about my best Bud Dale. Dale Kremsreiter was my cousin, my best Bud, and he is the reason I raise deer. He was a great guy who would listen and help anyone. For many years he had some of the very best typicals in the country. He was in Kevin Grace's Top 30 sale in the early years, and many of you old timers have done business with him. Dale served 2 tours in Vietnam and during his second tour switched places with another guy who didn't have a flack jacket to wear one day. Within an hour of having made the switch with this guy he was hit and suffered major injuries. Injuries that continued to affect him the rest of his life. The final blow came from Esophageal cancer which is affecting many of his fellow veterans he served with.

Please read the letter below that Dale's wife sent to some of us family, and friends, and then copy and paste the letter into your email and send it around to share with others. Let's see if we can make a difference in the lives of those who gave some much for us all.

Hello Every One:



I have one last favor to ask!



Dale died of Esophageal Cancer - the last year and 1/2 have been very hard - lots of pain - Dale received good care at the VA in Iron Mountain and the VA in Madison. But because the cancer is only on the "agent orange suspect" list many Viet Nam Veterans with this type cancer do not receive the care Dale did. Dale spent the last year and 1/2 working to change that - he was in contact with Rep Steve Kagens office - it did not quite happen before he died - So would you all please contact your Congress Men (Women) and Senators and request that Esophagus Cancer, and all GI track Cancers be moved from the suspect list to the Agent Orange Caused Cancers.



The things that are on the suspect list that should be moved to the Agent Orange Caused Cancers are:



Esophagus Cancer

GI Track Cancer

Ischemic Heart Disease

Hypertension

Parkinson's' Disease



These have all been linked to Agent Orange - Veterans are suffering with these service related diseases and are not able to receive VA treatment.

Roger, I would like to express my condolences over the loss of your cousin. I have been meaning to write my senator anyway over the whole health care issue and your email prompted me to do that and include the health care of our veterans as part of the letter. Below is my letter. I am including it so that anyone else can copy it and put their name on it and send it to their congress person. You dont even have to send an actual letter. Just do an online search for your congress person and on their website will be a form to fill out with comments. You can then copy & paste the letter below to the comments section. JUST DONT FORGET TO TAKE MY NAME OFF OF IT AND INCLUDE YOUR OWN!!





Senator Durbin,

Please be advised that I am against Obamacare and any radical changes to our health care system. We have spent way too much in tax dollars for various welfare programs for "under priveledged" people. All this has done is create lazy people looking for a handout while burdening those in society who work hard to care for their families and make ends meet. I am all for helping those less fortunate than us and in fact give to lots of charities of my choosing. The American people do not need forced charity health care. If you want to make a positive change for the health of Americans, how about looking out for our veterans? We continually treat our veterans as second class citizens while rolling out the red carpet for ILLEGAL immigrants. In particular, Vietnam vets are right now suffering from a host of ailments associated with agent orange exposure. We owe these fine folks the very best health care possible as well as the deepest respect for their sacrifices. To be specific, here are the things that are on the suspect list that should be moved to the Agent Orange Caused Cancers list:



Esophagus Cancer

GI Track Cancer

Ischemic Heart Disease

Hypertension

Parkinson's' Disease



I would hope that you will do everything in your power to help our veterans get the health care they deserve. Furthermore I hope that you will open your eyes and your mind to the ridiculous anti-American and sometimes clearly racist policies of the Obama administration.



I see another American revolution developing. The days are numbered for the extreme liberal socialists to be in power. A house cleaning party is coming to Washington as the silent majority awakens. Will you be swept away with the filth or will you remain? This will likely be decided by your own actions over the next year or so. It is time for patriots to once again run this country.



In closing I would like to offer you some good advice on the health care issue and one that would surely be popular with the American people. (and make you a hero if you have the guts to get it done) When congress comes up with a health care system that they themselves (and the president) will be a part of, the American people will not complain. I dont see that happening however because of the ELITIST attitudes that politicians all seem to develop somewhere between home and Washington DC. The ball is in your hands and we back home are watching. Thank you

Thanks for posting this about Dale. I had no idea that you and Dale were related. I purchased my very first buck from Dale some 20 years ago from the wildlife park he was running in Northern Wisc. Sorry I can't remember the name of the park right now, but Dale was an inspiration to my wife and I as we were just getting started in the Whitetail business. This is very sad news and Dale will truly be missed by many, myself included. I will certainly pass this letter on. Thanks again for letting us know about this. Barry M.
 
Thanks Barry. It was the Warbonnet Zoo in Hazelhurst WI. They eventually sold the place and it was eventually closed some years later for good. Kinda sad to drive by there now and see it sitting idle.
 
Thanks Roger for the post. I remember Dale from the early days at the old Antlers International Sales. I didn't know him very well but knew he was well respected. Our entire industry will miss him!



And thank you Don for a VERY GOOD letter. I will use it today! I officially appoint you our industry writer, to be on call when-ever we need you.

I hope our leaders wake up and realize how stupid they are looking from the "common mans view". Don hit the nail right on the head when he talked about passing laws that APPLY to Washington as well as the rest of us. What Obama has done in the first 6 months is amazingly scary! He has run us into a hole that will take us several lifetimes to come out of. AND THEY WANT TO SPEND MORE???? Now that’s "acting stupidly" as Obama would say!
 
Yep Roger that's it the Warbonnet Zoo. Dale actually tried to sell me the Warbonnet and had me good and interested until he told me what it was like in the winter to take care of the frozen waterers and everything else that went with it. He talked me right out of it as fast as he talked me into it, and I thank him for that, as it would have been a nightmare in the winter. Sure looked like a goldmine in the summer though, man was that a fun place to visit.



I'm with Sam on appointing Don our industry writer and I also think we need to send Sam to Washington with a big ol can of whoop-ass. Maybe Don would go along with him as well.



I will also get to work and use this letter. Thanks Roger, Don and Sam, and not to forget a big thank you to Dale...

Don you got it right my friend. My dad spent several years in a VA hospital and I have to tell you our vets deserve so much more. The building was old,the people were overworked and under staffed. Yet our government officials bend over backward for illegals and dead beats that don't want to work but look for the ever growing govenrnent handouts. It makes you sick. We need to take this country back and we need to start by throwing out about 90% of the incumbants. I just wish our voice could be heard but I'm afraid at least here in Illinois they will fall on deaf ears once again. We will give it another shot though and send the letter. Rick

I had a very good friend die years ago from cancer....he wasn't only a good friend but my best friend.........still think of him often.......he served in veitnam and was exposed to agent orange as well.........just doesn't seem fair how our country can turn their backs on the very people that made this country who we are!! I will do anything to voice my opinion for these great Americans who served their country for nothing in return but to hopefully return back alive to the country the loved........then they have to come back and fight the red tape to get their health back.........it's crazy i tell you.......our goverment should be embarrassed.......these great soldiers deserve a great deal more respect than they are getting............I'm sorry for your loss Roger ........the loss of my best friend still hurts today!!
 
Sam, thanks for remembering Dale and saying so. It is nice that at least a few people are recalling him.



Barry, Dale was that. Upfront and honest with everyone. And yes the winters at the zoo were a brutal way to make a living. But he really enjoyed the animals. Whitetails was his real passion though. I sat with Dale in his hospital room the day before they sent him home. They had told him there was nothing left they could do for him and he needed to go home and spend his time with his family. He and I talked about a few things that will stay private and forever in my memory. But at one point even with all that was going on he looked at me and asked, "how are the deer doing?" I told him about my 2 year old and what people were saying he will score and he was really excited for me. For a moment the pain was not so bad as we talked about the deer. I sure will miss those chats.

Roger this is Steve Thayer I pull two tours in Vietnam ,I was grunt 69/70

I am suppose to get a shoulder replacement on Sept 11 of all dates that another story. I went for a proup for the replacement got a x ray , call me in you need a cat scan . You have a dark spot in both lungs ,they ask me if I ever smoke I said no. So I will fine out Monday what the deal is , but I have had a allot of buddy go down with cancer from agent orange. I always thought it would get me sooner are later, I am hoping it is a long time later. Roger I know what it feel like to lose a true buddy like a blood brother. I am sorry for your lost it open allot of old memory back in my life when I read your post

If there was something to find, it is better they DID find it rather than not. Know I will be wondering what is happening with you. If your in agreement, please send me a note to keep me informed on the results on Monday?

I hope those memories that were opened up weren't all bad ones. Sorry if this thread stirs things rather left alone.

I will tell you this... Dale fought hard all the way through his ordeal. Right to the end he fought, and I can tell you he never let up and was glad he never let up. If you find you have something that needs to be dealt with you MUST fight it.

I will see you at the sales yet for many years to come:)

Thank you for your service to our country. You vets do not get the credit or respect you deserve from our elected officials. It literally makes my blood boil that our politicians seem to care more about ILLEGAL immigrants than the patriotic Americans who served our country. I will say a prayer for your health. Albert and I were just talking about you and your bucks the other day and we both agree that you are one of the nicest people in this industry. Take care

I've heard it said that the Iraq war is another Vietnam. Not wanting to get in politics here but those guys in Vietnam went through hell and when they came back it was still hell. A friend of mine said that when he returned to the states, the first thing he did is take off his uniform and put on street clothes so no one knew he was a soldier. Pretty sad way to treat someone who put their life on the line. And many of them had problems for years if not the rest of their life. I admire all those who have the guts to fight for whatever the cause.
