took poop sample to vet, he sent it off and confirmed.

put him on corid as a drench since hes my pet...got better but now bck where i started..loose stool about like a cow, usually green if he eats a lot of clover more brown/black when eating lots of grain.

what now? i have the sulmet 12.5 ready to go as a drench,,,,,is it still 3oz for 100 pounds?

he has had this problem for over 2 months now

...still plays looks ok has lost wait though. still eats overall good shape.

please help

Could be a secondary infection in the intestines. I would try Neomycin ( this is a bacterial antibiotic ) in his water for 5 days. Ask your vet how much to give for just 1 deer or if gives you the dosage on the bottle you can break it down. It has worked for me in the past. Good luck

Be sure to give him probiotics to get the rumen back to where it needs to be....this could be why he is still loose as well. good Luck!

Marquis....kills coccidia, usually with one treatment. Ask jason e on here about it..

$199.00 a tube, give him a hersheys kiss size dollop on some bread, retreat in a week if he isn't clear.

A 2-yr old buck on the farm where my Rosa now lives has very watery (almost completely liquid) diarrhea which started last night. Today he has been lying around all day, and refuses to eat anything, even his favorite treats.

The DVM came and gave him a drench dose of some horse-intended med that had a "sulfa" antibiotic in it. I can't remember the name of the med, but I am wondering what would you do if your otherwise healthy deer started having watery diarrhea (scours?) and refused to eat, and seemed lethargic and standing around just sort of looking depressed and staring into space?

The oral paste that the DVM used that is intended for horses was: Tribrissen 400 Oral Paste

Any experience with this? anyone? please?

I had so many problems with cossidiossis....an finailly found something that worked....yes corrid is good preventative ...but once they have it can be deadly.....anyhow...after losing quite a few fawns and even a few yearling deer I found a drug that works.....but of course it is expensive.......it is called Marquis.....I have heard people call it ponazuril......all I know is it works......it has been a while and I can not remember what the dose was that I gave I am certain it is on the instructions....but It was awesome stuff!! Hope this helps....

I had a bad strain of cossidiosis in 2 does this winter/ early spring. I will guarantee this cocktail to get rid of it, if it is cossidiosis. 3 cc of Mycotil and 10 cc penicillin every 3 days for a total of 3 doses. You must stay on top of this . 2 doses wont do it. Or at least it did not for me. I saw the deer go to pellets after the first dose in about 24 hours. I gave them a 2nd dose and I thought they were cured so I did not give the 3rd dose. It came back 10 days later. So I gave them the full cycle, that is 3cc mycotil and 10 cc penicillin every three days for a total of 3 doses. These deer now look just as good as the other does that never had it. It works. Ask Jack, he is on here a lot!

Isn't the mycotil very deadly to humans?? If so I would try the stuff I listed above it worked wonders for my deer.......

Is this in a shot form or given orally?

Where do you get the Mycotil?

Need help ASAP

I have printed this thread now and will give it to the geniuses on the farm. Thank you so much for your help guys.

Hope your deer are all doing great, and looking good after the "great winter coat shed." hehehe. I have deer hairs everywhere... Can't get 'em out of my fleece running shirt. Am so allergic it's not even funny... My big city friends think I'm crazy... But they don't know what it's like to be a deer mamma. Rosa has lived away from "home" now for 5 months but still won't take treats from anyone else than me, and chases everyone out of her pen. She's just so attached it's really heartbreaking to me. I honestly keep her in my constant prayers that she'll remain healthy on this farm where it seems that all of the deer, one by one have gotten sick during this time, except for her. I am so grateful to Dr. Shipley at UofI for sending me the vaccines he sends me. Please guys, let me know which vaccines you will be using this year, ok?

Thanks,

Yes, Mycotil is very deadly to humans. Use with extreme caution. But it works. Rattlesnake bites are deadly to Humans as wel,l but we use the venom as a anti serum don't we. You have just got to be careful with it or call a vet to give the shot. We have used it for over 20 years on cattle and I have never been stuck with a needle. Just use extreme caution and be careful!

Have 2 doe fawns that keep the scours on then off, on then off! ONLY those 2 fawns, which by the way are womb sisters. Dont know if that coould be a key in the issues they are having or not!? Not to rule out Coccidiosis completely in this situation but wouldnt it be reasonable to knock out the possibility of Coccidiosis since its been 7 months fighting this and has yet to show any signs that our other fawns in the same confined space are affected at all to whatever this is?! One fawn is to the point now that she cant make it through without a drastic change in her condition. She has lost weight but still eats and drinks. Her stool alternates from almost pellet form to squirting liquid in a matter of a weeks time. Her sister was completely better with no scours for almost a month before she started having loose stool again. This one still has at least some sort of consistency in her stool but I am clueless on what else to do that could help here! They have been given Tylosin IM, one round of Zacctrin for precaution, have pushed probiotics as much as humanly possible, a dose of spectrum in thier water even!,safeguard pellets to eliminate internal parasites, aeromyosin as a top coating, electrolyte pack in water and Corid mixed at 1 oz per 100 lbs in water! Other than not using Neomysin and pumping them full of Pepto to flush I dont know what else I could do! IS there anything I can dart them with as I am not able to catch by hand very easily and do NOT want to re reun either of them at risk of stressing them out and losing them anyway! HELP!!!

I have 2/3 of the marquis tube left i would take $100 for if anyone wants it!
