2014 Top 30 Auction Results

Four Seasons,

What about all the people who never sell anything ( or almost never) in a sale yet would be more than happy to sit back and see others continue to contribute to these fees for this program? When would they contribute?

Well the way i see it is that will never change. At least with a check off the ones that never donate money, time or really anything positive to help the industry but still sit back and sell bucks, does, fawns and semen would have to at least donate 5% of their sales. Then with Waynes great idea, That would be awesome if you could get people to donate the money but most wont unless they are forced to.

I dont know if this is the right answer or idea but what i do know is that the 90% of farms that dont do anything but reap off the deer industry will continue to do so   and if the 10% that keep giving dont do something to get more help to get our industry where it needs to be then the whole 100% will be together taking your fences down and hoping Texas has room for more deer farmers. Every new rule and every new law is just getting most states one step closer to having closed borders like

ours!

Josh, Well Said. I find it odd that of all replies in this thread regarding percentages, come from people who did not come to the Top 30 auction or show any support to the industry by their attendance, other than you Josh.

Furthermore, they have Idea's of how to spend the money of the true supporters of our Industry, whereas if they were truly involved, they would see that the consignor's have donated from 1 to 5% of their proceeds for YEARS!!!

Along with raising 10's of thousands of cash and prizes as donations to support not only the industry but to booster attendance at the auctions. I am praised and humbled by their support, and consider them partner's in success.

But as they say Josh, Liberalism is a mental disorder.

True Supporters?  So someone who does not support the industry through the top 30 is not an industry supporter?

I think what Kevin is saying (because your comments have been posted in a results thread for the Top 30) is that of the 60 consigners in the sale most if not all donate 1 to 5% of their sale proceeds to NADEFA. These same consigners on a larger percentage basis will be in the Midwest select, Buckeye, and NADEFA Spring sale.

I think the idea of a check off system's results sound good. It's the old, ends justify the means.  Taxing someone or putting additional fees on them is not the way to get it.

For example lets look at our federal Gov. Every time taxes are raised charitable contributions go down. Why? Because when people are given but one choice they naturally resist it.

I believe that no one knows better to do with my money than myself. If and when I choose to give it is my business.

I would like to here some other thoughts on this check off system... What is we did something along the lines off a buyers percentage donation if you buy something you pay an extra couple of points on it... HA!

I for many years was one who gave a % of my sales at the auctions to NADEFA as well as gave a great deal in cash, items and time to NADEFA, WOW and other orgs and causes.

I for one will NEVER be forced to give to ANYTHING that I don't make the choice to give to. I would quit the industry entirely before taking part in yet another forced liberal program. I do enough of that now with my income and property taxes.

How true.. But i must ask. Would you rather have the state take another percent of your cut( like Pa testing 100% of all animals, Thats a big cut for some!)) or would you rather a percent of the cut go to fund that may be able to fight and beat some of these stupid laws?   Either way, You will bend over and give the cut or you will get out!  As sad as it is!
