209 Days and counting

218 days is the longest I have personally have had with proof of parents.

She was in perfect condition when she left Missouri. She was moved to Florida in January. The move went great. In the spring I was told she began to loose weight then, after treatments, she is now noticably gaining weight, but still thin. The owner did see the fawn move in her. Just curious to know how long they can go. You guys that saw does go this long, was it common to see it happen when her condition was poor? Jeff

Jeff,

These extreme long gestation times are quite rare as most does birth 205 days and under. In fact most long time gestation are really not long gestation times but in fact due to a owner mistake and a back up buck breeding her or a buck fawn which was not removed.

i have one that was live bred but has no belly and no bag not real sure if she took has anyone seen this happen and still have fawns?

Trigger I had one similar, compared to the other does, she showed no signs of pregnancy, even in late May. She was bred on November 5th. Then one evening while walking the pen there she was with 2 buck fawns, surprised me. No udder until birthing. All other does had big bellies and big udders except her. Dennis, no bag and no belly. But fawn was seen buldging from her side.

I don't want to ruin your hopes but had a doe like that and i swore i saw the fawn moving in her belly....but......she never had any fawn......I hope your outcome is different......good Luck hope you get fawns!!!

ok next ? then if you bought a live bred doe and she never fawns or shows any signs of being pregnant what would you expect from the seller in return? i have spoke with a few farmers that have had this same situation and the seller gave them a buck and doe out of same sir. what are some of you guy's experiances with this?

I ended up with a straw of semen out of a buck that hasnt amounted to much. Oh I forgot, I never got the straw.

I would push for the fawn.

I had that exact thing happen last year. Doe never looked pregnant and never had fawns so the seller offered 1 doe fawn out of same sire. Anything above that I would consider a bonus. GOOD LUCK!

i bought 4 bred does 3 have had twins now she is one of the oldest does i bought and the biggest doe i sure was expecting twins out of her for sure. i will call the seller soon and see what his responce is but was wanting to get so other opinions before i made the call hopefully he is understanding of this situation. thanks for your reply's and all future reply's

If you bought the does bred I would expect the seller would make it good with a fawn with the same sire. However, alot of sellers sell them "exposed" and in that case they are only guranteed the possibility of fawns and no gurantee you will get fawns. Some sellers will still make it good but they wouldn't have to. Rick
