Fawn is 3 weeks old . We have had her 2 weeks. Today having watery yellow poop. All water running down leg. Just started. Called breeder where she came from he's been having same issue for couple days. He doesn't know what it is. No access to vet care on Sunday. What can I give her. Was on red cap mixed with powder replaced. Going to switch to goat milk which is what our other two used. We never had problems. I'm thinking ecoli or cocc. What should it do?

I notice it was running down her leg while feeding. I will give electrolyte at next feeding. I tried but she licked nipple and turned her nose up at it.

I feel for you. We are going through the same thing at our farm. Our first one had the same symptoms and we lost him after about 3 days. 2nd one had normal poop and we lost her 2 days ago. We are at a loss. I am telling you now that you need to syringe electrolytes down her every hour or so to keep her hydrated until you find out what's wrong. We did this , but in hind sight I don't think we got enough into them. They were taking their bottles like champs for over 2 weeks, then wouldn't even look at the bottle. Check my post right below yours. We are trying to save our last one now. Last year we gave yogurt and pumpkin at the first sign of scours and it was fixed within a day or so. We bottle fed 8 fawns last year and didnt have a problem that this forum didnt help us overcome. Please keep us posted

Good luck!

Has anyone tried albon or sulmet? based on a 10 lb fawn. I give orally with a syringe 2cc first day 1cc 3 to 4 consecutive days. They say that they are basically the same but I seem to have better luck with the sulmet. I also give it between feedings as not dillute it. Also depending on what I see as symptons I may give 1 1/2 cc penicillen orally. Prior or after the sulmet /albon treatment. You may want to give 3cc of C&D Antitoxin...administer Sub. These Ideas are not to be used all at once. These guys are still fragile that is why I said "Depending On What I see as Symptons" After the sulmet or albon treating I always give pumpkin or plain yogurt to help replace bacteria. As always these are things that work for us. Hope we can help!!!!! 734-320-7182 Steve

We just went through the same thing with all of out bottle feds 10 of them. We determined that it was Rota Virus. We fed two feedings of merricks Blue Ribbon Electolytes and one feeding of milk. We also feed one feeding of Pectilyte (BIO VET) brand at full strength dose. We did this for about four days strait. The electolytes we fed them as much as they would drink. After the stool started to get more firm we took away one of the feedings of electrolyes and started them back onto the straight milk but still kept them on the one feeding of Pectilyte. After 6 days of feeding all but one are now pooping pellets :). We also gave them .2cc of baytril in the muscle, and 1cc of LA200 (not tetradure its to strong) per 10 pounds in the bottle, and 1cc of sulfa per 10 pounds in the bottle. The biggest thing is to keep them well hydrated, we went to feeding four times a day instead of three. The picture is what our fawns had for poop. This seemed to work great for us hope this helps you out. If you have any questions give me a call.
