5 week old fawn not drinking water

Does anyone have any suggestions on getting my 5 week old doe fawn to drink water? We bottle feed her and she does great, about 9-10 oz's four times a day, she is eating grains and eats clover in the pen. she has never drank any water from the dishes we have out which im sure of because they are full to the brim every time I check them. This is our first time bottle feediong so I'm not sure if this is normal or not. There is no other source of water in the part of the fence she is in, so the only possible water she is getting is from eating the plants with dew in the mornings. Should I be worried?

Thanks Bruce, I figured it was probably ok but it helps to get other opinions. Are you feeding a milk replacer or whole milk? I was using U 24, had terrible problems with scours and switched to whole vit d milk. Since then she has done SO much better.

You can still use the ultra 24 if you want to give them the little extra they need. I mix 1 scoop of 24 to 1 gallon of red cap!!!

Thanks Mike, I was under the impression that you couldnt refrigerate the U 24 after it was mixed? since I'm only bottle feeding one fawn it was too much to mix seperately each time. Do you pre mix it into the gallon and keep in fridge? Thanks again

Brand new to this deer farming thing so please excuse me! We are having problems with scours too. Tried neomycin oral, panacur, yogurt, pumpkin, pepto. Got somewhat better but back to liquid again. Now, I keep reading about switching to whole milk or red cap. Please don't make fun but is this just regular cows milk? I think maybe the formula isn't agreeing with her so I want to maybe try that...

Yes the red cap is just the regular pasteurized milk you buy in the stores...just make sure it's whole milk with the red cap........

should I wean off of formula to milk? Can't imagine she'd get worse diarrhea than she has now but want to make sure I do it the right way.

Last question...Is the albon you are talking about the cattle version or something I can get from the vet. They have the liquid cat/dog version. Same thing?

I have very good success with Fastrack Jump Start Gel.This has cleared them up every time. 574-209-2226 for questions.

We mix up and keep enough red cap & Ultra 24 for a days use in the refrig. We use 1/4cup per half gallon of red cap. We had a couple fawns which we had to dillute the mixture with water because it was a little too rich for them. Otherwise we have had pretty good luck with that.
