A friend of mine who was a very experienced horseman once told me that if a horse eats grass or hay that a possum has urinated on, it could give the horse a deadly disease. Is there anything like that with deer besides the obvious like rabies?

The disease horses get is called EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis) and it does come from possums it's from the possums feces gettting in the food and water. I've never heard of a deer getting it but I know deer can get alot of different parasites, viruses, and worms I'm just not sure how many of them are deadly.
