Aborting baby and injured leg! Please help

Hello new to this forum and looking for some helpful info!

I have raised a doe for the past year. We found her as a baby and have had her ever since. Throughout the winter she would come and go as she pleased and seemed fine. Recently we hadn't seen her for several weeks and two days ago she appeared and was extremely skinny and was favoring a hind leg.

I am almost sure she has broken her leg above the hock but not quite to her hip. She won't bear any weight on it and when she stands it crosses over the other leg. From reading other post I have come to the conclusion to let nature take it's course.

But after watching her the past few days I noticed that she was grunting while laying down and it seemed like she would take all of her strength and push down towards her butt almost like going to the bathroom. Well today I noticed a milky creamish white substance on her leg upon further inspection I noticed it was coming from where she pees(for lack of a better word) she also seems to be flexing that muscle a lot. Would this be because she has miscarried and is trying to get rid of the after birth?

Sorry for writing a book just want to make sure I had all the details in there! So I guess I am looking for advice on her leg, possible miscarriage, and weight gain.

Thank you so much!

Sounds like your thinking here is right on. Sounds like the baby is dead and she will expell it on her own if she keep working. But it does sound like a little penicillin is in order for secondary infection and if you can 8cc would be good. Would also put out good food for her and water in the area.

Thanks! I have been giving her lots of apples grapes and corn. She has also been eating hay and grass. We've been working on trying to get her to drink replacement milk for fawns forvthe nutrients. Good idea or bad? Also, where would I get penicillin?

Sounds like she got hit by a car.I take it the way you say that she is gone for awhile she is not behind a fence??It does not sound good if she is in the wild as she will get run down by dogs or yotes.I would say she holed up somewhere after she got hit and didnt eat at all.You will have to dart the penicillin into her i am sure. With her bein a wild deer i dont know the legal deal on that but i would do it anyway to try and help her.You can get the meds from the vet or most any farm supply store.

She is a pet deer that we've raised since a baby. She is use to dogs and actually plays with them when she is healthy. We live on a private farm but right now I have her in an enclosure to monitor her movement and health.
