that not to early,my deer AI'ed oct 29 last year and had 100%

Ok I figured it was good but didnt want to take the chance with out some input from people that have done it before Thanks Nick

Nick, We have done it Oct. 26 the last 2 years and I think mid Nov. 10th or so has worked better for me 50% vs 95% so I'm going back to Nov. I believe it is closer to the natural cycle of my does.

Best of Luck

this will be the first year i have Ai my does and i have to work around when i can get the chute hoping to have my own chute next year so i can do it in nov.

Thanks Nick

Why not just sedate and do them on the exact day that you want. I put my doe's down a total of 3 time's and like that better than a chute.

Thought about darting them but that seems impractical as i will be doing 20 does

Smart money is on darting your best using your best semen for the acutal breeding. Use the chute for your cidr"s in and out and for breeding your weaker does but if you want better results for your best... Out they go for the breeding! IMHO

I done my doe's last year in a group of 10 one day, then 8 more the next day on another farm. When I had them down to remove cidr's and give pmsg I would give the pmsg shot to them in pair's in the order I planed to do the ai. I would do two doe's give the reverser then wait 5 min to do the next pair and so on down the line till I had all 10 doe's with a 20 min differance in time of the pmsg shot so I could ai as close to an exact time frame from pmsg shot to the semen in the doe. It has worked well for me this way. If I was going to do 50 doe's I would do them the same way even if I had a chute set up here. I like to keep them out and at a slight downward angle for 15 min or so after the semen has been put in the doe. After 15-20 min they are taken off the table, put back in the pen and reversed.

Even if you are doing lap AI you could implant and remove the cidrs in the chute. That way you save a lot of money on drugs. If you run your deer through the chute a couple times a year for sorting etc. they will be used to it and not stressed.

We have always done all our AI in the chute and had good results.
